Case Study:
Infra-red Heating Keeps Customers
and Workers Warmer at the Fireplace Warehouse
|
The Fireplace Warehouse have a large showroom for their
retail activity and also a factory area where they manufacture their
products
The Problem
The showroom has a very high ceiling
making it very expensive to heat using conventional
hot-air methods.
Furthermore the manufacturing area consists of a large
un-insulated area with a roller-shutter door that opens
periodically allowing any heat to escape.
|
|
The Solution
.
By
installing a number of 3kW short-wave infra-red heaters in the showroom,
specified and supplied by Leisure heating Ltd, customers are now
kept warm by the direct radiant heat from the units.
In addition, workers in the manufacturing area are kept warm
from the heaters now installed on the walls adjacent to where they
work.
The Benefits
Customers and workers at the Fireplace warehouse are now kept
warm directly from the infra-red heating without the need to
heat very large volumes of air.
Workers are now more productive whilst customers tend to
shop for longer in a more comfortable environment.

Electric Infra-red Heating Infra-red heating is based on the transfer of thermal energy by electromagnetic radiation. Infra-red emitters are classified according to the temperature dependent peak wavelength which they emit and can be short-wave, medium-wave and long-wave. Short-wave infra-red heaters have the ability to heat people directly without having to heat up the air first. They are compact, energy efficient and easily installed. The element used has a thermal response similar to an electric light bulb so is instant. Infra-red heaters can be easily used with PIR movement detectors or with power controllers.
